British Roses

Synonymous with love, the rose is without doubt one of the best loved and requested flowers to include in a wedding bouquet. Why wouldn’t you want these delicate, perfumed blooms included in your magical day… they are as close to perfect as you’re going to get!

With it being British Flower Week next week (#homegrownnotflown) I wanted to talk a little about our very own British varieties – among the finest you’ll find anywhere! Take the Evelyn with its showy, shapely large flowers and rich fruity scent. Or the Rachel, a frilly old fashioned large rose with a lovely perfume. The David Austin Juliet is a ‘neater’ medium sized flower, almost too beautiful for words!

The Margaret Merril is a daintier rose and exceptionally fragrant, while the David Austin Kiera has many ruffled petals, looking a little like a Peony. A more traditional shape is Kate, a garden style that sits exceptionally well with other cottage garden flowers.

Then there’s Charity, Purity and Patience – all medium sized, delicate, and well, just incredibly romantic. And finally, Darcy – a red, red rose named after Darcey Bussell – picture the elegance!

We’re proud of these home-grown beauties, and we’d like you to join us in celebrating the wonder of British flowers.

And include them in your big day… afterall, nothing says love quite like the rose does.
